DCW pix

The next time I make it home, not sure when that will be, I will get them, bring them back with me, scan them, and post them. I hope that clears somethings up. And Hitchy if you have all the tapes let me know so I can get copies to digitize and maybe put up on the web.

I really need to do a review of this new endeavor from the gnome.

Technology Nightmare

It very well could be if the Supreme Court goes with the Hollywood and music industries. A suit has been filed against peer to peer networks like Grokster and many others. If it goes against them they will be held liable for any copyright infringement that happens on their networks. They have until the end of February to respond. The following is an excerpt from Leo Laporte's Laporte Report,

"The court is considering whether to overturn the 20 year old precedent in Sony vs Universal Pictures that made the VCR possible despite its potential for use in copyright infringement. At stake, not only the future of file sharing networks, but many consumer electronics devices like CD and DVD recorders, Tivo, and more. This will be one of the most important decisions from the Supremes all year."

Leo summed it up very well. If this does go through technology could be held back for many, many years.

Now on to more pleasant and happy things. Two packages arrived today, one at Hammond Home Base in Dennison and the other here at Alpha Geek Central in Athens.
The one the arrived here was my order from Amazon.com. It consisted of the following books (all geek books too):

TechTV's Mod Mania with Yoshi : A Guide to Customizing Your Computer and Other Digital Devices

Leo Laporte's 2005 Technology Almanac

Wil Wheaton's

Dancing Barefoot

Just a Geek

Now the package that arrived at Hammond Home Base. It was a package from Apple. You know those computer people. Well I bought my brother an iPod Shuffle.

Yes my brother is now a proud owner of a piece of technology I have not even got to play with yet. I talked to him this evening and he is enjoying it.

Well that is all from my realm, until next time, I'll click ya later.

Happy B-Day to me

You're older than you've ever been
And now you're even older
And now you're even older
And now you're even older
You're older than you've ever been
And now you're even older
And now you're older still

Time is marching on
And time is still marching on

This day will soon be at an end
And now it's even sooner
And now it's even sooner
And now it's even sooner
This day will soon be at an end
And now it's even sooner
And now it's sooner still

You're older than you've ever been
And now you're even older
And now you're even older
And now you're even older
You're older than you've ever been
And now you're even older
And now you're older still

I got everything moved with no problems, yet. I would like to say one thing about the gallery, if you click on an image to make it larger, you can leave comments about it. You can also purchase the prints of the pix through several online companies including shutterfly, I know many of you like that service.

That is all for now, as always, click ya later.

MacWorld 2005

Ok I know it is late, but I just got done watching Steve Jobs' keynote from this years MacWorld. It was just amazing! There are a couple of things that I would like to say...

I want a Mac Mini!!!!!! These things are going to give the Windows PC's a run for their money. Finally Apple has made an affordable computer that anyone can buy, set up, and run with little effort.

1.25GHz PowerPC G4, 256MB DDR333 SDRAM, ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB DDR video memory, 40GB Ultra ATA hard drive, Combo drive, DVI or VGA video output, $499.
Or 1.42GHz PowerPC G4, 256MB DDR333 SDRAM, ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB DDR video memory, 80GB Ultra ATA hard drive, Combo drive, DVI or VGA video output, $599.

As I said affordable. But as Steve said they are "BYODKM"; 'Bring your own Display, Keyboard, and Mouse.' But what the hell, I have an extra one or two of each.

Flash based MP3 players are here to stay. Mainly because many double as a storage device to transfer data as well as play songs. Well Apple has one, The iPod Shuffle. I am strongly thinking about getting one of these. It comes in two sizes; 512 mb, holds 120 songs, and is $99, or the 1 GB, holds 240 songs, and is $149. That is a great price for either one. A storage device and Mp3 player in one for $150, WOW!! 12 hours of playback on one charge as well.

Finally I was reading some other blogs and listening to some podcasts from MacWorld and they pointed out some interesting thing...could Sony and Apple be planning something big? One might have started a rumor about one buying the other or maybe a Sony PC running Mac OS X. Could these be true? We will just have to wait and see.

Steve did talk about some new programs that are being rolled out this year, that 2005 will be the year for HD (High Definition), and some other things. The new iLife Suite looks quite impressive too. Go watch the keynote, broadband and Quicktime required, and see for yourself. Warning though, it is 2 hours long so make sure you have time.

Oh and one last thing, I will be keeping my Mac. I have a feeling that Mac's will begin to take over in 2005. That is my prediction. Until next time, click ya later.
