Dial up sux ass

No reviews, no cool gadget guides, no updates. Why? Dial up sux ass, that is why. I forgot how long it takes to look up stuff when you are connected at 36.4 Kbps. That and I have been working on a couple computers for people. It is took me longer on the one then I hoped, and still couldn't fix it. Sorry sis. I hope to start up again when I get back to Athens. Man I miss my broadband. Well as always, I will click ya later.

School shooting

I just heard on the news that a student at New Philadelphia High School attempted suicide early this morning. He was found by a janitor. I have no links with more info yet. As I get more info I will post it. For those of you not familiar with this area New Philadelphia is just 10 minutes from where I live. I worked and went to school there.

Yahoo! Video Search

First let me say this link is not safe for work, contains adult images and links, and is in general naughty.
Ok with that out of the way, I did not even know that Yahoo was doing such a feature until I came across an article on Boing Boing. Well they are, and if you are feeling kinky, naughty, randy, or just plain horney then Yahoo might be the new place to search for your adult movies. Just follow this link to learn more because if I put any thing more in this post I will be getting some hits that I do not want.

Site Updates

Here is the latest news from the blog front. Several things of note:

1. I have a pic up on the profile now. It can be seen to the right in the about me section.

2. Added a Tag-board. What is a tag-board you might ask? Well think of it as an IM client on a site. You leave a short message and people reply back to it. It scrolls up and down so you can see what other have to say. So go ahead and tag away.

3. I hope that everyone enjoyed the distraction tactic that I used at the beginning of the month to get this blog back on track. Did you really think that I was going to post stuff over there? That is not my style to post 'mushy' 'deep feeling' crap and you know it. But I will not let that blog go to waste, I will be using it as a place to post non-tech related stuff. Those articles and things that have nothing to do with tech but are of some interest. So now there is another blog you have to check, time for the RSS reader everyone. I did not put that post up just for the hell of it.

Once agian that is all from my realm, click ya later.

MPAA Slaps P2P Networks with Lawsuits and Arrests

So the MPAA is taking a page out of the RIAA book so to speak. They are going after file sharers. Only they are going after those that run the servers where the files rest. Or in the case of bit torrent where the trackers rest. With bit torrent now under fire I wonder how long it will be before many of the sites linking to the trackers are down. I will be keeping an eye on some of them and see if there is a drop in torrent files or not. Don't these people have anything better to do?

Geek gossip? or what ever I decide to call it

So as many of you have noticed I have gotten back in to the swing of things here on the blog. I have begun posting tech related articles and some other stuff. I have even begun to do some audio with some posts. I am hoping that after the New Year to get my main site back up and maybe even move the blog there. I am also hoping to get an RSS feed set up for the audio parts. If all this happens I will have to tell every one how that works.

I am doing a couple reviews on some programs that I have been working with along with a couple sites. I hope to have these up some time before Christmas. I may also get some guest bloggers on to do either posts or audio, not sure which yet.

I have been neglecting my moblog. Well not neglecting just not posting to it. I only have 30 pix I can send a month through Alltel so I am cautious about what I take pix of and send. I am really hoping to get that phone after the first of the year too. That would be so nice. I would be putting movies up too. Although I could just use my vid cam and shoot some stuff, but that is not as geeky as using your cell.

I have been showing people the wonders of webcams this past week. I got mine set back up and even used it to video chat with some people. Of course they did not have a cam so I could not see them, but they could see me. They could also hear me. Love the built in mic. I think I may have started a new fad here. I am looking into getting another webcam to have multiple cams going. I really want the Logitech Quickcam Orbit. That thing follows you around so you are always in the shoot. A little creepy.

That is all from the realm of the Extreme Alpha Geek. Until next time, click ya later.

AOL Locks Out IM Users

The leading IM service accidentally blocks an unknown number of users while purging outdated accounts. A fix could take until Monday.

Mine still works. It would suck if you were one of the people that got locked out.

ECW Theme Music

So I came across this site that has all the ECW Theme Music. It just a list of the wrestlers and what songs they made their entrance to. This just made me feel nostalgic and wish for the good ol' days of EXTREME.

Hello Moto

My next phone, the Motorola V710. This phone has everything that I want in a cell phone, and Alltel has it. I am in a bit of shock that they do. This thing has 1.2 megapixel camera with flash, shoots video, integrated MP3 player, Bluetooth, and expandable memory. There are a lot more features that I will not even go into, this phone is the bomb.

This is the truth

Audio with posts? Why not!?

I am trying something new here on the blog. I am going to see if I can post audio with my posts. Much like Podcasting but with out the RSS capability. If this works you can expect more of these in the future.

Spring cleaning in December

I just went in a removed a whole hell of a lot of stuff off the server that this blog sits on. What does that mean, well some of the older stuff that I posted might not work right. I took stuff off through last April. All the posts are still there just some of the content that I uploaded is gone. I am just making room for something that I want to try.

What the hell is RSS?

This is a post long time coming. What is RSS? I know the explanation that I would give won't do it justice so I will just direct you here, XML.com What is RSS. I will give you few minutes to read up on what a wonderful thing this is...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...

Ok now that you are back and hopefully have a general understanding of RSS let me tell you why I think that this is one of the greatest things for any webmaster to use on their site. Easy distribution of content. It is as simple as that. RSS is the way that people will eventually start getting their online news, information, and whatever else. I use RSS to get all my info now, no more email newsletters, no more checking a site several times a day looking for updates. Basically if a site does not have an RSS feed, I will rarely go to it.

Chris Pirillo is a strong backer of RSS. I first learned about it through his Lockergnome site. Chris has even set up a channel for nothing but RSS. This is another good place to go to learn about the benefits of RSS.

Now you are probably wondering 'How do I get the feeds to my computer?' You need an RSS client. The one that I am using is Feedreader. It is free, open source and the new versions are always better then the previous. Here is a link to the download of the latest version as of this post. Now many might not want to download a new program and let it run in the background and check the feeds every hour or so. They might want to be able to check their feeds from any computer at anytime, well Yahoo has added an RSS Headline to the My Yahoo. It works very much the same way as a stand alone client but you can check the feeds from any computer with net access. Feedreader is for Windows only, and since I am not a Mac expert I am going to ask Tina, if she reads this, to post a comment about a good, free RSS reader for the Mac.

Now that you have a choose of ways to get the feeds to you how about a list of feeds that I use:
Extreme Alpha Geek
EAGPhotos
Politik7
Toothface
Tina's blog
Emotionaltoothpaste
Chris Pirillo
Leo Laporte
Fark.com
Fark.com comments
Wil Wheaton dot net
BoingBoing

This list could go on, but I will stop it there. Just copy the shortcut and paste it. Simple as that. As always if you run into any problems just let me know and I will help in any way I can.

All I want for Xmas is...

well everything here. This is the list of products that Leo Laporte showed on Live with Regis and Kelly. I know there is a lot on that list, but if I had to choose I would want:
Linksys WML S11B (link to Linksys site)

and

iPod Photo (link to Apple site)

I think that would be a reasonable request. I know I will not get either but hey a geek can dream can't he.

Removed some posts

I just removed some posts to get the sidebar back to the top. That was the only thing that I could think of as the problem. I just wish I knew for sure which one it was before I started deleting them. No big loss. I will always find stuff to post about.
