US senator-

"P2P developers offering free lollipops to induce children to steal." WTF is this guy smoking because I think that I want some.

I am surprised I had not posted on this one.

Citing Oliver Twist and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Senator Orrin Hatch introduced the Inducing Infringement of Copyrights Act, late Tuesday. As I reported earlier, the act proposes fines and jail time for any company that produces technology that intentionally helps people violate copyrights. Hatch said that, like Fagin from Oliver Twist, companies like Kazaa were teaching children to steal. He does have a point there. Companies like Verizon and the Consumer Electronics Association are howling, though. CEA president Gary Shapiro said that if the law passes "the VCR would not be a legal product; TiVo would not be a legal product." He does have a point there. (this was take from leoville.com)

Let's hope that this one does not pass.

Pentagon Seeks U.S. Spy Powers

Pentagon Seeks U.S. Spy Powers

A Pentagon effort to persuade Congress to allow military intelligence agents to work undercover in the United States met with resistance in the House Wednesday when the provision was left out of the highly secretive intelligence funding bill.

However, the Senate's version of the Intelligence Authorization Act of 2005 still includes the provision, which exempts Department of Defense intelligence agents from a portion of the Privacy Act, a 30-year-old law that outlaws secret databases on American citizens and green-card holders.

Power out

The power is out here. It went out at 11 o'clock last night and came back on sometime after 7 this morning. It stayed on for around 2 hours and then went back out. The funny thing is it had stopped raining for about half an hour before the power went out. Just crazy.

Atleast this is a step in a good direction

I do not think so

Antipiracy bill targets technology. This is one bill that should not be allowed to go through. As it states in the article any technology that could be used violate whatever the copyright is on something coulld become illegal. P2P networks, some websites, TiVos/Replay TV, and yes even the VCR. This is not good at all. They say it is to stop the pornography off the P2P networks. Bullshit, you can do a Google search and find more stuff through that then on a P2P client. As soon as The EFF has something up about this I will post it and maybe we can try to stop this stupid bill.

Web newspaper registration stirs debate

Web newspaper registration stirs debate. Imagine if a trip to the corner newsstand required handing over your name, address, age, and income to the cashier before you could pick up the daily newspaper.
I hate having to register to read an article on in online newspaper. They never have a privacy policy that seems up to par. Besides, you can usually find the same info that I am looking for somewhere else on the web if you just look a little.

Yahoo Increases E-Mail Capacity

Too bad I do not use it, except for when an email address is required and I do not want any mail. Free service hits 100MB, while premium service customers get a price break and more room. Check it out here.

Fast-moving Zafi.B disables firewalls, spreads political message

And we thought that the ads getting around the pop-up blockers was bad. Take a look at this.

Do you think they will blame Ohio

Just like the power blackout last year. Blackout hits major Web sites. A domain name outage Tuesday morning that left many popular Web sites such as Yahoo, Google, Microsoft.com and Apple.com temporarily inaccessible was the result of an Internet attack, according to Web infrastructure company Akamai.

Glad I am not the only one...

RIAA Radar

How do you stop an out of control organization that does not care about it's customers? Don't buy any of their products. When buying music this can be a problem because how do you know if a label or artist is associated with the RIAA. Here comes the RIAA Radar. All you do is put in the name of the artist, label, or keyword and it will tell you if they are associated with the 'Dark Side' (the RIAA). If they aren't feel free to buy, if they are, go download from a P2P client (I will not be held responsible if the FBI come crashing through your windows and try to show you the error of your ways by showing you how bad some of the artists have it). Go ahead and give it a try, I for one will be using it when I buy/download my music.

When will they stop!?!?!?

RIAA Moves In on Digital Radio. This is starting to get out of hand. Not that it already wasn't. Sorry RIAA but we will continue to rip music and share it no matter what you do. If people remember their history there was this thing called 'prohibition' and people made there own alcohol because it was 'illegal'. That is all that is going to happen here. People are going to find other means of trading songs, even if they have to go back to burning to CD's and handing them out to friends, and their friends friends, and so on. We do not live in a Communist country, although it seems that way lately, so lay off assholes.

The Silicon Valley Toxics coalition says Dust from PCs may be toxic may be making you sick. Electronic components in computers, TVs, hair dryers and other devices are routinely coated with flame retardants known as polybrominated diphenyl ethers, or PBDEs. The chemicals cause reproductive and neurological damage in animals. Holy cow I am going sterile.
